Common Prayers
Memorare
Remember, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to your protection, implored your help or sought your intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I come to you, O virgin of virgins, my Mother.
To you I come, before you I stand, sinful and sorrowful.
O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions,
but in your mercy, hear and answer me. Amen
Morning Offering
O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary,
I offer You my prayers, works, joys and sufferings of this day
for all the intentions of Your Sacred Heart, in union with
the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world,
in reparation for my sins, for the intentions of all my
relatives and friends, and in particular for the intentions of the Holy Father.
PRAYER OF ST GERTRUDE FOR THE SOULS IN PURGATORY
Our Lord told St. Gertrude that the following prayer would release 1000 souls from purgatory each time it is said. The prayer was extended to include living sinners as well.
"Eternal Father, I offer Thee the Most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with the Masses said throughout the world today, for all the Holy Souls in Purgatory, for sinners everywhere, for sinners in the universal church, those in my own home and within my family. Amen.
The Angelus
The Angel of the Lord declared to Mary:
And she conceived of the Holy Spirit.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death. Amen.
Behold the handmaid of the Lord: Be it done unto me according to Thy word. Hail Mary . . .
And the Word was made Flesh: And dwelt among us. Hail Mary . . .
Pray for us, O Holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Let us pray:
Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts; that we, to whom the incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His Resurrection, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.
Prayer and Letter to St. Joseph
Dear St. Joseph, you heard God's call, trusted in His plan, humbled yourself and willingly accepted your cross. You labored endlessly caring for Jesus Christ, our Savior, and His Mother, Blessed Mary ever Virgin. I now call upon you, as Patron Saint of Workers and Foster Father of Jesus, to pray and intercede for me. My eyes are fixed on heaven and I desire to thank God for the many blessings and gifts He has granted me. I want to thank Him by providing and protecting my home-front and family. St. Joseph, pray with me that through the gift of humility, I may, please God by
working conscientiously
deny myself, serving God first
be devoted to my daily duty
develop the gifts I have received
work in peace, moderation and with patience
never tire of my duties
offer my fatigue as reparation for sin
pray unceasingly
never fail to ask for the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
keep my eyes fixed on heaven and
be ever aware of the hour of my death.
St. Joseph, help remind me that I alone must account for time and talents wasted. Pray Saint Joseph, that like you, I, from this day forward may accept the plan God has for me and serve Him through obedience and humility forever. Amen
(Say this prayer every day and ask for St. Joseph's intercession and help in your life. Prayer may be prayed as a novena. Say one Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be and Memorare in honor of St. Joseph.)
